Whether recapping the previous night's School Board meeting, informing listeners on a recent development on a government project or a featured story on a piece of local color, veteran news anchor Leslie Thatcher delivers the news that makes Park City a community.

The Local News Hour follows Morning Edition and is KPCW's flagship news program, also hosted by KPCW News Director Leslie Thatcher, every weekday from 8 to 9 AM. Get the information directly from the people who are making the news with live interviews.

Land Deal Kicks Off 1st Outdoor Recreation Summit

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert will open his first annual Outdoor Recration Summit on Thursday by signing a long awaited swap of state and federal lands in Grant, San Juan and Uintah Counties. 

The deal gives the federal government about 25,000 acres of conversation and recreation lands in exchange for about 35,000 acres of energy-rich land for the state.

Congress authorized the deal in 2009 but it has taken years of negotiations to be finalized.

Judge OKs Tear-Down Of Pigeon Admirer's Loft

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A South Jordan pigeon keeper fighting to maintain his backyard shelter for hundreds of the birds could soon lose the structure under a new judge's order.

Justice Court Judge Clinton Balmforth gave the city permission Wednesday to remove Boris Majnaric's pigeons and tear down a loft and gazebo.

City officials declined to comment on how fast they would act.

The Deseret News reports that Majnaric faces related misdemeanor charges in a pending case.
