If you've been eagerly waiting for that email notifying you of your time slot to purchase tickets as part of your Sundance film Festival ticket package, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Those who purchased ticket packages to the 2017 Sundance Film Festival were supposed to be able to log onto their accounts on Tuesday and learn what time they could return online to purchase their individual tickets. But that hasn’t happened. Sundance has since sent out emails informing their patrons of the technical issues. An email forwarded to KPCW read quote: “Due to a technical problem with our automated time slot generating tool, time slots are not yet available. We are working to correct the problem and ensure the system is ready for your ticket package fulfillment next week. We will email you when your time slot is available. We apologize for the inconvenience. Also, please know that while your tickets are no longer displayed in your account, they are indeed still in your name. The order history is part of the technical issue and will be resolved shortly. Once the technical problem is fixed, time slots will be chosen at random and will fall sometime between January 3rd and 6th. This is one more snafu in the film festival’s online ticketing system. Last year, the online system failed when thousands tried to purchase their packages, even after dozens of dry runs. This year Sundance contracted with a major ticketing outlet in an attempt to avoid a repeat of last year’s problem. Those who purchased a ticket package were charged an addition $50 service fee, presumably to help pay for the new ticketing system.
