Traffic on Eastbound Interstate 80 was backed up from Silver Creek Junction to west of Jeremy Ranch Wednesday morning after a semi-truck caught fire and closed the highway.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported that the eastbound lanes of I-80 closed about 7:30 Wednesday morning. Drivers were forced to exit and re-enter off Highway 40. One lane of traffic opened about 45 minutes later. Crews worked for a while longer to remove the damaged trailer. All lanes reopened about 10 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
