Park City Assistant Attorney Polly Samuels McLean Is On Paid Leave

Park City has added details about the status of Assistant Attorney Polly Samuels McLean’s employment.  Melissa Allison has more:

As reported before, Park City officials said Assistant Attorney Polly Samuels McLean notified her employer, Park City Municipal, of her felony arrest on September 6, well within the five days required.

She and her husband extreme skier and author Andrew McLean were each charged with two counts of felony theft and vandalism. They allegedly stole Sheldon “Skip” Roberts two hunters’ chairs and a camera that were strapped and locked to a couple of trees.

Park City initially said they were following their policies and procedures. They say it is mandatory for an employee, who has been arrested, to provide a copy of the police report within 24 hours of its availability.

The city will take three things into consideration before making a determination of an employees’ status. The nature and gravity of the charge, the time that has passed since the event and/or the completion of any sentencing and the nature of the employees’ position.

In McLean’s case, City Manager Diane Foster said they’re taking it day by day.

“At this time, we have placed the employee on administrative leave with pay and obviously we will continue to evaluate her status as more information becomes available," Foster said.

The people evaluating McLean’s situation are Foster, City Attorney Mark Harrington and Assistant City Manager Matt Dias.

“We’re watching the review by the Salt Lake authorities," Foster said. "And we’ll keep tuned to that. And as I’ve mentioned, we’ll continue to evaluate the situation."
