Cool Science August 6, 2015

author

Program Hosts Lynn Ware Peek and John Wells speak to author Beth Shapiro whose new book, How to Clone a Mammoth: The Science of De-Extension discuss if extinct species, like mammoths and passenger pigeons could be brought back to life. In the book, Shapiro walks readers through the astonishing and controversial process of de-extinction.

In segment two of the show, Lynn and John interview Anil Ananthasmamy, the author of The Man Who Wasn’t There: Investigation into the Strange New Science of the Self.  Ananthasmamy reports that neuroscientists now see that the elusive sense of self is both everywhere and nowhere in the human brain.
