The Utah Avalanche Center, in its first report of the season, warns citizens of the the perfect storm of avalanche danger, taking place in the early season due to the first significant snowfall blankets the Wasatch Mountains. KPCW's Lynn Ware Peek has more.

The Summit County Attorney's Office obtained an Emergency Writ from a Third District Court judge on Friday, to keep a suspected drug trafficker confined in the County Jail. The County filed a petition because Justice Court Judge Shauna Kerr declined to authorize detention, feeling the arresting officer had not sufficiently explained why the suspect was pulled over in I-80.

The Summit County Council got its first look this week at the 2014 budget recommendations from the Summit County Manager. And after four years of lean times, Council Member David Ure and his colleagues might be able to think about increasing spending and hiring more staff. Rick Brough has more.  

As a result of Tuesday's voting, the towns of Oakley and Coalville both have new mayors. Wade Woolstenhulme has been elected as Oakley's new chief executive, edging out the incumbent by 26 votes. And in the county seat, Coalville businessman Trevor Johnson won the mayor's seat. Rick Brough has more.

Coalville Mayor

While municipal elections are taking place Tuesday in Park City, Oakley, Coalville, and other towns across Utah - three other cities on the east side won't have any elections due to a lack of candidates. Rick Brough has more.
