Summit County's two political parties have finished their conventions and chosen their candidates. Among those, two contenders who will face off this fall for County Treasurer. Rick Brough has more.

Summit County's Republican Party will hold its convention Thursday night, at South Summit High School. The delegates will vote to choose a nominee in two contests within the party, for county offices. Rick Brough has more.

As we reported, Basin resident Chris Hague thinks a County Council member might have a conflict of interest running a small business in Building A of the Boyer Tech Center.

But asked about that, County Manager Bob Jasper said he doesn't think there is a problem. Rick Brough has more.

Summit County's Democratic delegates gathered Saturday afternoon and voted on the local contest within their party. They decided that two candidates for County Auditor, Alex Butwinski and Michael Howard, will go on to a primary in late June. Rick Brough has more.

Artscape

Summit County and the City of Coalville invite metal and wood artists to exhibit their work in the Summit County Artscape, the outdoor public art sculpture gallery. The City of Coalville has pledged up to $1,500 to purchase the People’s Choice award winner from this year’s show. Pieces will be installed in May and must be sustainable outdoors without maintenance for one year. Application deadline is Tuesday, May 5th. Highway Mishaps

Summit County sheriff deputies have been busy the past week with a variety of incidents and mishaps on the local roadways. Those include a chase from Wasatch County, and the crash of a cattle-hauling vehicle that resulted in the death of several animals. Rick Brough has more.
