Should Police Officers Wear Body Cameras?

The recent events in Ferguson, Missouri have drawn concern from law enforcement professional across the country, including Summit County. A controversial grand jury decision, and the protests and riots that followed, focused on the shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer.

In response to that, and similar incidents in Utah, there have been suggestions that officers wear body cameras. Pack City Police Chief Wade Carpenter said his department is already doing that. Rick Brough has more.

Monday night, KPCW and The Park Record hosted the 2014 Election Forum for candidates running for Utah House of Representatives, Summit County Council, Summit County Attorney and Summit County Sheriff.

The forum's panel included KPCW Reporter Rick Brough, Park Record Reporter Jay Hamburger, Park Record Editor Nan Chalat-Noaker and the event was moderated by KPCW News Director Leslie Thatcher.

A standing-roon-only crowd showed up at the Richins Services Building for a Tuesday afternoon transportation forum, organized by Summit County and Park City. County Hears Proposal To Grow Wilderness

The Summit County Council Wednesday night was shown a proposal to expand the High Uintas Wilderness area in Summit County by 28,000 acres - about 16 percent.

The Council also heard public input from citizens who support the wilderness expansion - and other who are concerned how it will impact fire prevention, the watershed and livestock activity. Rick Brough has more.

Celebrity Stalker Jailed Again

A suspect who was detained by Summit County deputies in June for trying to contact a celebrity homeowner in Promontory returned this weekend. The intruder was a Wisconsin resident who deputies arrested and sent to County Jail after he made two failed attempts to contact the woman, because of an apparent infatuation. Rick Brough has more.
