Officials Ramp Up Efforts To Keep Drugs Out

After last week's arrests and the breakdown of a major Mexican drug cartel running meth, a rash of recent crimes, and three heroin overdoses in Summit County, law enforcement officials are ramping up their efforts to fight the war on drugs. Lynn Ware Peek has more. 

Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds was named as Sheriff of the Year at the annual Utah Sheriff's Association conference last week. KPCW's Leslie Thatcher reports.

  Summit County Sheriff's Deputies kicked off September with a variety of incidents-including a scuffle with a drunken suspect that left a Sheriff's officer with some injuries. Rick Brough has more.

Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds is going to put on hold a proposed change in policy, where deputies would not respond to all security alarms.  The sheriff said he will devote some further study to the policy.  Rick Brough has more.

Although Summit County sheriff Dave Edmunds was one of three finalists for the State of Utah Department of Corrections director, Governor Gary Herbert has chosen someone else. KPCW’s Leslie Thatcher reports.
