The new Summit County Attorney, Margaret Olson is busy transitioning out of her private practice, and plans ot spend the next couple of months getting oriented to her new position. Rick Brough has more.

The Summit County Council Wednesday appointed Margaret Olson as  Summit County Attorney. She will fill the unexpired term of the late Robert Hilder, who died in April. Rick Brough has more.

The Summit County Democratic Party convened Thursday night and chose three nominees to succeed the late County Attorney Robert Hilder. 45 members of the party's Central Committee selected Patricia Cassell, currently the county's chief criminal prosecutor, Jan McCoch, the law partner and widow of Judge Hilder and Margaret Olsen, a Salt Lake City attorney. The Summit County Democratic Party has received eight applications to replace recently-deceased County Attorney Robert Hilder. The candidates, all of whom have to be an attorney, include Hilder's widow as well as the current head of the criminal division in the County Attorney's office. Rick Brough has more.

In a brief special meeting Monday, the Summit County Council named chief civil attorney Dave Thomas as acting County Attorney, following the death of Robert Hilder who served in that position. Thomas will stay in that position until Hilder's replacement is appointed. Rick Brough hast more.
