Reece Demille

The President visited Salt Lake City Monday to announce his plans to reduce the proposed Bears Ears National Monument by 50-percent.  Sharon Buccino is an attorney and land policy expert with the National Resources Defense Council.  Chris and Nell talk about this decision with her, what legal actions can and will be pursued to challenge it, and what this decision means to the fate of other national monuments across the country.  Then in the second half of the program, they shift gears and talk about our growing trash problem in Park City.

On today’s program, Park city Public Works Director Blake Fonnesbeck discusses transit changes for the coming ski season. Summit County Public Works Director Derek Radke and Reece DeMille from Republic Service discuss snow removal and curbside pickup. New Park City Police Department hires Victim Advocate Coordinator Megan Galati and Community Outreach Officer Franco Libertini  talk about their new roles and Recycle Utah director Carolyn Wawra has a monthly update.

Reece DeMille of Republic Services is up first to discuss the 2017 Annual Solid Waste Fee, Why China is cutting back on importing plastic and how Apple plans to manufacture 100% recyclable phones. Then Katy Wang and Lindsay Beebe talk about the film, “From the Ashes” airing this Friday at the Santy. Finally, Lynsey Gammon stops by to share information on her new farm called Mountain Song Farms, located  in Silver Creek.

Reece Demille of Republic Services and Larry Gibbons of Rocky Mountain Recycling join Chris and Nell to discuss recycling, the MRF and China’s Green Sword.  Then Dr. Diana Cox Foster talks about her research in bees and the latest bee discovered in the Escalante region of Utah.

  On the program today the firs guest is Molly Brooks who is the new Outreach and Communications Director for Recycle Utah. She talks about the latest types and tons of material they have sent to recycling, reprocessing and repurposing.

  Republic Services recently signed a contract with the county to continue solid waste pickup in Park City and Summit County.  Joining Chris and Nell in the first part of the program  to discuss the contract is Reece DeMille, Manager of Municipal Services and Government affairs – Northern Utah – for Republic. Then in the second part of the program they speak with Katie Bernhard, a Park City resident who just returned from a year’s stay in Rwanda where she provided environmental education and management services to a local town.

  Joining us for the first part of the show to talk solid waste and recycling is Reece DeMille. He is the manager of municipal services and government affairs for northern Utah for Republic Services.  On the second segment of the program Eric McGill of Earthwings joins us along with Bill Voelker, founder and director of Sia, an ethno-ornithological initiative of the Comanche Nation.
