SC Council Considers Pay Raise

The Summit County Council has scheduled a discussion to possible increase their salaries starting in 2017. The council's review of compensation Wednesday was expected to be a routine item. But it took an unexpected turn, when the one retiring council member said she's always thought the council salaries were too low and need to be higher to attract good candidates. A new commission of city residents will explore the compensation of Park City's elected officials. Lynn Ware Peek has more.

The Park City council in its Thursday meeting passed the standard 2% cost of living increase for city staff and elected officials.  But in doing so, it started a discussion about how the low pay discourages people from running for office since they receive part-time pay for full-time work.  Lynn Ware Peek has more.
