Democratic challenger Donna McAleer debated Republican incumbent Rob Bishop for the First Congressional District seat on issues including gun control, immigration, Social Security, air quality and the Affordable Care Act.

Tonight at 6 PM, KPCW will have a live broadcast of the only debate between local Democratic candidate Donna McAleer and Republican incumbent Rob Bishop - both vying for Utah's First District Congressional seat. Lynn Ware Peek has more.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Six-term Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop has breezed past a challenge for his party's nomination and will face Democrat Donna McAleer a general election in rematch from two years ago. 

It took McAleer two rounds of votes to get enough support from the delegates Saturday at the Democratic convention get past physician Peter Clemens and avoid a primary. The business executive received 66% of the votes in the second round.
