Thousands pack deer valley every January to watch a sport that had its Olympic debut just 22 years ago.

Moguls skiing brought a new era to the Olympics at Albertville in 1992 – music mixed with skiing, with athletes bam-bam-bamming their knees down the bumps and launching themselves into the air, twisting and turning. It was a matchup between two of the powerhouse nations: the USA and the host nation of France.

Gold Medal: A Family Affair

In 1972. a family from Vermont captured the hearts of America at the Sapporo Olympics.

After a medal-less 1968 Olympics for the U.S. Ski Team, the eyes of America were on the Cochran family from Vermont as the 1972 Olympics came to Sapporo, Japan. The team was a family affair: Bobby, Marilyn and Barbara Ann. Heavy snow was falling on the slalom course on the final day of the games as Barbara Ann drew bib No. 1 and battled into the lead after the first run.

Lost Boy Earns Gold

The tragedy of a lost boy in a Korean market had a happy ending at the 2006 olympics in Torino.

The U.S. ski team had long been a powerhouse in freestyle moguls with medals in every Olympics since its 1992 debut. Heading into Torino in 2006, all eyes were on Jeremy Bloom. Instead, it was a Korean born athlete from Yale who stepped into the spotlight.

Proud Americans

In soon to be war-torn Sarajevo, a pair of twins stood proudly for all of America.

It's been nearly 30 years since Phil Mahre climbed atop the podium in Sarajevo, twin Steve at his side. Despite the passage of time, the memory and the emotion hasn't faded. It's grown stronger. Phil and Steve Mahre dominated their support in the early 1980's.

Simple Mistake Turns To Bronze

It was a simple mistake, just a mathematical error, but it turned into Bronze.

The modern day Olympic games started in 1896, patterned after the ancient Grecian contests. But it wasn't until 1924 that the Olympic site of Paris chose to do a winter exposition-an event that later became the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix. Ski jumping was the Marquee Competition.
