Heber City Council Votes Against Proposed Tax Rate 3 to 2
Following a crowded public hearing Tuesday night, the Heber City council cast a split decision, voting 3 to 2 to drop a 45% tax increase for the coming year’s budget. Council members shared their thoughts about Heber’s budget dilemmas with the audience. As KPCW’s Rick Brough repoerts, one council member even pushed for a vote on next year’s budget, even though it wasn’t noticed on the agenda.

About 100 citizens crowded into the Heber City council chambers last night, with most of the speakers criticizing a proposed 45% property tax increase. After that, the Heber council voted 3 to 2 to drop the idea from their tentative budget. KPCW’s Rick Brough reports.
Interstate 80 Closures for Next Two Weekends
Motorists on Interstate 80 in Summit County for the next two weekends should plan to add some time to their travel plans as UDOT replaces two bridges at Summit Park. The bridge replacements will require that I-80 is closed overnight for the next two weekends so crews can demolish and replace the Summit Park bridges and slide the new bridges into place. According to UDOT, Eastbound I-80 at Summit Park will close Saturday, August 13th, at 10 p.m. through Sunday noon. Westbound I-80 at Summit Park will close the following Saturday, August 20th, at 10 p.m. through Sunday noon.
All vehicles, except semi-trucks, will be permitted to travel through Parleys Canyon on I-80. Vehicles will be diverted through the off and on-ramps at the Summit Park exits during the bridge replacement. However, motorists should expect delays of up to two hours during the closures. Semi-trucks are advised to use Interstate 84 through Ogden or U.S.
Search is on for Missing Austrailian Hiker
The Duschene County Sheriff’s office is mounting a search for a missing hiker from Australia. 63 year old Eric Robinson was hiking the 100 mile High Line trail through the Uinta Mountains.
