Vail says letter "misconstrued"

Vail released a follow-up statement Wednesday morning, after Park City Mayor Jack Thomas replied to a letter Bill Rock, Chief Operating Officer of Park City Mountain Resort, sent the day before.  In that letter, Rock said Vail is not "willing to withdraw or amend" the application to trademark the name "Park City."  In Thomas' response, he said he was "disappointed" with the letter.  Wednesday morning, Vail's Vice President for  Mountain Community Affairs, Kristin Kenney Williams,  released the following statement:

“Unfortunately, it appears that our letter to the Park City Council is being misconstrued.  Our goal was to outline our views on a topic that has stirred up much emotion in Park City.  We are very committed to working through community issues and we also think it’s important to outline our positions so they are better understood.  Our letter to the Council said nothing about walking away from the discussion we are having with the City on the memorandum of understanding on the trademark- a dialogue we have every expectation to continue.  Even when we may disagree, we respect everyone’s views and feedback, something we think is critical to ensuring the success of our community.”
