SR 224 Repairs Slow Traffic: Timeline "Undetermined"

Traffic on State Route 224 could be slow this week due to road work between Kimball Junction and Canyons Village.  Utah Department of Transportation crews are repairing damaged pavement near the intersection with Cove Canyon Road.  UDOT spokesman John Gleason says water runoff in the area has caused the road to buckle.  He says engineers on the scene aren't sure why there's so much water in the area.   Summit County Public Works Director Derrick Radke says a county engineer is also on site assisting UDOT crews.  He doesn't believe the new paved pedestrian & bike path next to the road is the issue.  He says there may be some blockage in the road drain system.  Gleason doesn't know how long it will take to fix the road.   However UDOT is advising drivers to use State Route 248 as an alternate route in and out of Park City for the next week.
