KPCW in Park City was honored Thursday night, September 11 in Indianapolis as one of America’s top five noncommercial radio stations. Park City’s community radio station was among an elite group of public stations honored with a nomination for the Marconi Award, the radio industry’s highest honor for overall excellence in broadcasting.
“It was an honor to be included in the list of great American radio stations,” KPCW General Manager Larry Warren said. “I couldn’t be more proud of the staff and volunteers who create great radio for the citizens of the Wasatch Back.”
This is the second time this year KPCW has been nominated as a top five station by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). In the spring it was nominated for the Crystal Award for public service in broadcasting.
“To be nominated in the top five for two of broadcasting’s most prestigious awards in one year demonstrates the level of service our listeners are getting,” said Bob Richer, the chairman of KPCW’s Board of Trustees. “Summit and Wasatch County listeners may not realize it, but only a handful of communities nationwide get the level of service in local radio that KPCW delivers.”
