At least 28 people lives will change for the better on Sept. 21. Mountainlands Community Housing Trust (MCHT) will be cutting the ribbon on their new affordable apartment project at the Village at Kimball Junction.
The project will be dedicated “Richer Place Apartments” in honor of Bob Richer, former Park City Councilman, Summit County Commissioner, KPCW Board president and community advocate.
Mountainlands Director Scott Loomis said there are 28 apartments, mostly one-bedroom and studio units, that are strictly designated to serve those who serve Park City.
“They’re income qualified," Loomis said. "So it’s roughly about $15,000 to $30,000 per household so it’s our workforce, the people that live and work in our community.”
The rent’s are based on various incomes but they range between $400 a month for the smaller units - on up to $900 for a two bedroom unit, which Loomis said is substantially under market. Some of the units are designated for specific groups of people.
“There are some set aside units," Loomis said. "These are multilevel financing to create them and one of the requirements to get low-income tax credits is you have to provide what they call ‘set aside units.’ So we have some units for victims of domestic violence, we have some units for veterans; we have some handicap units, so there’s a wide variety of special needs in there as well.”
Loomis said all of the units are claimed with the exception of one that needs the heart of a Veteran to call it home so if there's a veteran out there interested – they just need to call Mountainlands and ask for Lauren.
