Mountain Money - November 16, 2015

Larry and Doug’s first guest is Roger Lowenstein, author of America's Bank: The Epic Struggle to Create the Federal Reserve. A tour de force of historical reportage, America’s Bank illuminates the tumultuous era and remarkable personalities that spurred the unlikely birth of America’s modern central bank, the Federal Reserve. Today, the Fed is the bedrock of the financial landscape, yet the fight to create it was so protracted and divisive that it seems a small miracle that it was ever established. In segment two, Larry and Doug welcome Bill Beck, SVP and Southern Region Manager, Bank of American Fork. During the Great Recession of 2008 to 2011, Bank of American Fork was able to succeed when many Utah community banks either went out of business or struggled immensely according to a University of Utah study. ) The study conducted in 2014 reports that Bank of American Fork was successful during the Great Recession because it performed an extensive workout process, acted early to mitigate loss and found new sources of capital.
