Local Resorts Join Forces With More Than 300 Other Ski Areas

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.

January doesn’t just ring in a new year, the Sundance Film Festival and great snow. It is also the time of year when Park City’s resorts come together and call to those who have never experienced the sport that dates back thousands of years – skiing and snowboarding.

Utah’s 14 resorts are joining 35 other states during January to promote skiing and snowboarding for its 9th season. Each resort has its own details but Ski Utah Director of Communications Paul Marshall said, if you have never skied or snowboarded and are a Utah resident – the resorts will provide a lesson, rentals and a lift ticket for the nominal fee of $49.

“January is a wonderful month to get out there and learn," Marshall said. "But it doesn’t mean that January is the only month to get out there, Utah resorts are offering packages throughout the entire season along with Ski Utah with our 5th and 6th grade passport program. You know – there’s plenty of opportunities for just getting out there and staying active during these cold months and we encourage you to get out there and take advantage of the greatest snow on earth.”

Deer Valley and Park City resorts joined more than 300 other ski areas to participate in Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month  to make skiing and snowboarding more accessible for children and adults.
