Local News Hour - May 11, 2017

Should the Summit County Council raise property taxes?   Council member Glenn Wright breaks down the numbers.  Then, Snyderville Planning Commissioner Bea Peck talks about two big projects on the docket .  One is a 168-unit development on Rasmussen Road, that the developer says would be 70% affordable housing.  The other project consists of two new buildings at Quarry Village with “unique” characteristics. 

An update on summer construction and the Main Street Sidewalk Replacement Project follows.     Lynn Ware Peek, Community Engagement Liason, will tell us about that, along with a brand new tool on the city’s website to help citizens stay informed about construction projects around town. 

Heather Simms with the The Youth Sports Alliance talks about a new partnership with the National Ability Center.   Lexi Rohner and her son Cole join that discussion.   And, what do the Supremes, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper and Jane Austen have in common?  The Youth Theatre at the Egyptian!  We hear from Gemma Feltovich, ,Stella Strader and Caroline Waldman, who perform in “Emma, A Pop Musical.”
