Local News Hour - July 18, 2018

This morning Heber Mayor, Kelleen Potter, gives KPCW an update on a trip she and Heber Light and Power Board members  took to visit a small nuclear power plant in Oregon.  She also has an update on the progress of the Heber Bypass proposal to route Highway 40 traffic off  Heber's Main Street.    Park City Manager Diane Foster talks about Mayor Andy Beerman's letter to the Utah Congressional Delegation in which he asks them put an end to inhumane policies carried out by ICE in dealing with children of immigrants coming to the US.  It also expressly asks the delegation to create a path to citizenship for DACA residents particularly in light of how critical the immigrant community is to the culture and economy of Park City.  Budget Manager, Nate Rockwood, gives an update on Thursday’s council meeting which will include a discussion that considers consolidating the Treasure Hill open space bond with an additional $3 million to help preserve the Armstrong property, known as Snow Creek Ranches .    Kimball Arts Center Communications Director , Amy Roberts and Gala organizer,Marin Mullen are in to talk about a formal dress up gala fundraiser  for the Arts Center on August 2.   The final Local News Hour guests are Betsy Wallace, CFO and  Assistant Director of Government Relations, Morgan Everett.  They have  data  on the economic impacts of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. They show a $191.6 million impact to the economy of Utah.
