Little Valley Subdivison Public Hearing Tonight

The Summit County Council will host a public hearing tonight at 6 at the Sheldon Richins Building on a special exception request from the developer of the Little Valley subdivision, a proposed 12 lot development next to Lewis Park near Silver Creek.

A petition signed by nearly 300 people objects to the special exception request by the developer of the proposed Little Valley subdivision, the Milton Bitner Company.

The applicant’s request is for 12 lots on more than 108 acres at the intersection of Bitner Ranch Road and Deer Hill Road next to Lewis Park. A Consent Agreement for a neighboring development from which six units are being transferred, requires that lots sizes may not be smaller than 5 acres in size. The applicant wants to reduce the minimum lot size to 2.5 acres.

Silver Creek residents say if developed this would have a significant impact on their property values, as well as water, wildlife and their enjoyment of Lewis Park. They plan to bring a large crowd to attend the hearing.

According to Summit County planner Ray Milliner’s staff report, the proposal complies with four standards reviews, including it’s not detrimental to the public health safety and welfare and the intent of the development code and general plan will be met.
