High Speed Chase & Manhunt Ends in Silver Springs

Several police officers swarmed the Silver Springs subdivision Tuesday afternoon searching for a man who fled from a routine traffic stop.   According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, just before 3pm Tuesday afternoon a Summit County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull over a Volkswagen Jetta on SR 224 near Silver Springs Drive for a routine traffic violation.   The Jetta sped off into the Silver Springs subdivision and the deputy decided not to chase the car.   When he patrolled the area, the deputy saw the car had crashed at Silver Springs Road and Silver Springs Drive.  The driver fled on foot.  The deputy called for assistance.   About 15 officers from the Sheriff's Office, Park City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol and the U.S. Forest Service K9 searched the area for several hours but did not find the suspect, who they identified as Shane Daniel Lockhart, age 31, of Murray, Utah.   He was wanted on several felony warrants.  Around 6:15pm, officers received word that Lockhart was in the parking lot of the Blue Roof convenience store.   He was taken into custody and was booked into the Summit County Jail.
