Affordable housing has a long list of people waiting for their turn to purchase a home in Park City. Mayor Jack Thomas said there are 14 single-family homes and townhomes in the Park City Heights development that are now are ready to go.
“We have letters sent out to the candidates and I think that Ivory Homes is recommending people get their financing straight – get pre-approved – so they can speed that process,” Thomas said.
The single-family homes will range between, $375-thousand almost $410 thousand. The townhomes range between, $249 thousand to $340 thousand and even though that’s less for Park City median priced housing, Thomas isn’t happy.
“You know – given increasing prices for materials and labor and things like that – I understand aspects of that," Thomas said. "But no I’m not happy about that, I wish they were lower.
Even so, Thomas said they’re working hard to get people into affordable housing.
“I’ve had conversations with the developer and asked them to give us a new critical path," Thomas said. "And staff has following up and pressing really hard for them to produce more as fast as they can.”
The Park City Heights development – once finished – will have a total of 239 units once completed with 79 of those units designated as affordable homes.
