The acting director of the Summit County Recorder’s office has filed to run for the office in November’s election.
The filling window at the county clerk’s office is open until today at 5:00 pm for candidates to throw their hats in the ring.
The county’s elected Recorder/Surveyor, Mary Ann Trussell, resigned from the job as of July 1st. That left the county to hold a special election for a two-year position to fill out the rest of her term.
The acting Recorder is Rhonda Francis, who has now filed to run as a Democrat. She’s the only contender at this time.
She told KPCW that she loves her job, and if the office can stay on the right path, they will be in great shape.
Trussell was affiliated as a Democrat, so the local party will meet next week.
Francis said she hopes the party will nominate her to serve out the rest of the year—and will choose her as their standard bearer for the race this fall.
