Herbert Named Vice Chair Of Governor's Group

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has been selected by his fellow governors as vice chair of the National Governors Association.

The Republican Governor was chosen at the association summer meeting, which ended Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Herbert, in a statement, said he intends to work with governors to enhance the role of states in a wide range of policies.

Herbert will serve as vice chair as the association's annual meeting in the summer of 2015. At that time, he will become chair through the summer of 2016.

BLM To Remove Fewer Mustangs Across The West

RENO, Nev. (AP) - The U.S. Bureau of Land Management says it will remove fewer wild horses and burros from the range across the West this summer because of budget constraints and overflowing holding pens.

Under its roundup schedule announced this week, the bureau plans to gather 2,400 of the animals through the Sept. 30 end of the fiscal year. All but 215 of them will be horses.

8 Film Projects Get Financial Incentives In Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Eight film projects, including the fantasy adventure "Bigfoot versus Nazis," have been granted financial incentives in Utah. 

The tax credits granted Thursday by the Governor's Office of Economic Development board are based on production companies spending defined amounts of money in the state and hiring a certain percentage of cast and crew locally.

Utah Film Commission Director Marshall Moore says the tax credit increases from 20 to 25% when spending tops $1,000,000, but it can be reduced if a production falls short of meeting its spending goal.
