County Bans Fireworks, Open Fires, and Use of Some Ammunition

With about a week to go before the Fourth of July, the Summit County Council declared an emergency meeting Monday and approved an ordinance prohibiting almost all personal fireworks and open fires; and disapproving the use of some types of ammunition. Rick Brough has more.

  • - Fire risk is expected to be high from now until October 1st
  • - Ordinance prohibits the use of any and all Class C fireworks and open fires, except in a receptacle or structure designed to contain them
  • - Ordinance strongly discourages the firing of steel-jacketed bullets, incendiary bullets, or tracer bullets
