By Leslie Thatcher on January 19, 2012

The 29 year old half pipe skier Sarah Burke  of Canada died this morning.  According to a statement issued by University of Utah Hospital Burke died as a result an accident a week ago Tuesday when she tore an artery that provides blood to the brain while training at Park City Mountain Resort.  The statement says that Burke’s injuries caused  massive neurological  damage after her brain was deprived of oxygen due to cardiac arrest following the accident.
