Motorists on Interstate 80 in Summit County for the next two weekends should plan to add some time to their travel plans as UDOT replaces two bridges at Summit Park. The bridge replacements will require that I-80 is closed overnight for the next two weekends so crews can demolish and replace the Summit Park bridges and slide the new bridges into place. According to UDOT, Eastbound I-80 at Summit Park will close Saturday, August 13th, at 10 p.m. through Sunday noon. Westbound I-80 at Summit Park will close the following Saturday, August 20th, at 10 p.m. through Sunday noon.
All vehicles, except semi-trucks, will be permitted to travel through Parleys Canyon on I-80. Vehicles will be diverted through the off and on-ramps at the Summit Park exits during the bridge replacement. However, motorists should expect delays of up to two hours during the closures. Semi-trucks are advised to use Interstate 84 through Ogden or U.S. Highway 40 as alternate routes.
